My wonderful friend Kaitie does something on her blog at the end of each month where she looks back on a few things she accomplished and then looks ahead to set goals for the coming month. I love it, so, I'm doing it too. In January, I... 1. Started this blog I love writing but it can give me a lot of anxiety at the same time. I don't know if it's the perfectionist in me who is never quite satisfied with many of the things I produce, or if it's because I'm afraid of letting people down who have told me that they love my writing and want to see more of it. Honestly, it's probably some combination of both. But having this space to make my own has been wonderfully liberating so far and I'm excited for where it's going as I continue to build and shape it! 2. Registered for a half marathon Okay, technically my friend Jen registered me for it but whatever, the point is it that I'm running 13.1 miles in October! I'm so excited to get back into running. I've been doing CrossFit for almost 10 months now but haven't trained for any serious road races in a few years. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can start training. Obviously I could start now but I'm a wimp in the winter. Not trying to catch that terrible winter chill that never quite leaves you once you've got it. 3. Started the IF:Equip Hebrews study
It's been a week and half since I started this study and it has been an A M A Z I N G, life-changing, faith-building, anxiety-shattering (I wonder how many hyphenated phrases I can come up with) week and half. The author of the book of Hebrews starts out by making sure the reader know just how great our God is. I so badly needed this truth to saturate my heart. My three major takeaways from this study so far are: 1) IF He is reliable, just, and Lord over ALL (Hebrews 1, 2:1-9), then I can know freedom from the anxieties of control; 2) IF I exist in and through God alone (Hebrews 2:10-3:6), then I don't need to prove myself; and 3) IF I can trust God (Hebrews 2:10-3:6), then I know any suffering I endure is for a Holy reason - to do my part fulfilling my share of a Holy Calling (sharing [with Jesus] the call to usher in the Kingdom of God). 4. Started gathering research and ideas for a book! Yup, I'm writing a book! My goal is to be published before I'm 30. That gives me just under 4 years. That's all I'm saying for now. ...wait. I'm going to be 30 in four years. What? Well, ignoring that unsettling revelation, time for March goals! In March, I will... 1. Start training for that half marathon Warmer weather means running weather! I'm so ready for warmth and being able to go outside not dressed in 392849328 layers. 2. Stay in the Word Sure I wake up at 4:45am now so I can get in my time with God through the IF: Equip study, but there has been nothing I've ever done that has been more worth it. What often happens to me though is that I'll be going through a study and as I go along I'm learning so much, I'm at peace and my faith is on fire - nothing can stop me. Then I finish the study and I easily slide out of my routine. Well, not this time. When the IF:Equip Hebrews study is over, my goal is to pick a different book and do my own study in this same format! 3. Write a rough chapter of my book Draft number one of chapter one will be done. Who knows, maybe I'll be on a roll and write more than that. But the goal is at least one chapter. 4. Do something fun for my birthday My 26th birthday is on March 23rd. I'm not trying to do anything big but I need to make myself do something. I get lazy in the winter and would rather lay around bundled up under blankets with a good book so sometimes March is a struggle of getting back into the swing of actually doing things and you know just like, living. So, your suggestions are welcome! That's all for my February accomplishments and March goals! What are some of yours?

Yay! So happy to see you doing these check-ins too. It's fun to look back at the end of the year. Super proud of you for the future half marathon, I'll start thinking of witty signs to hold while cheering you on (because these legs are not running anytime soon).
